Kenya's Cabinet Chief Minister met ZMEV

On April 23, 2025, Beijing witnessed a highly significant China-Kenya exchange event. Kenyan Cabinet Secretary and Minister of Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi visited China and, during this trip, held a friendly meeting with Mr. Li Xiuwei, Chairman of ZMEV LIMITED. This marked the third meeting between the two parties, underscoring the profound friendship and high level of importance attached to cooperation in the automotive sector between China and Kenya. Also participating in this discussion were Ms. Gao Rong, Chairman of RIDEENCE AFRICA, a deep - rooted local partner of ZMEV LIMITED in Kenya. Her special participation added fresh vitality and anticipation to this exchange.During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on cooperation progress and future plans. Minister Mudavadi expressed his approval of ZMEV LIMITED's development in Kenya, and his personal presence at the meeting fully demonstrated his sincerity in cooperation.

Currently, the Kenyan SKD project has been successfully implemented, which was made possible with the strong support of Minister Mudavadi. The advancement of this project has brought numerous benefits to ZMEV LIMITED in terms of tariff reductions, effectively lowering the company's operating costs and enhancing its market competitiveness.

Furthermore, ZMEV's ride-hailing service business in Kenya has achieved remarkable results, with a substantial number of new energy vehicles being put into operation. These vehicles have not only effectively alleviated local traffic pressure but also significantly promoted the popularization of new energy vehicles, thereby contributing substantially to Kenya's environmental protection and sustainable development.

During the meeting, Chairman Li Xiuwei, on behalf of the company, presented Minister Musalia Mudavadi with a characteristic Hunan souvenir gift—"Xiang Embroidery," a Chinese national-level intangible cultural heritage (Note: Recognized as a national-level intangible cultural heritage in 2006, Xiang Embroidery is renowned globally for its exquisite craftsmanship and cultural significance, serving as a unique bridge for cross-cultural exchanges). This gesture not only showcased the allure of Hunan's traditional craftsmanship but also, through the medium of intangible cultural heritage, infused profound cultural connotations into China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, further deepening mutual friendship.China-Kenya cooperation in the automotive sector has achieved phased results. In the future, both sides will continue to join hands and work together to push cooperation to new heights, creating more value for the development of the two countries.
